I wrote this for the Guess the Author challenge over on network_command, where the prompt was the über-angsty "A mission is botched; one must leave the other behind." I was, I might add, immediately and thoroughly Guessed by several people. It's strange, though, how no-one else ever seems to notice what I regard as my own oh-what-a-giveaway stylistic tics. I suppose it's like looking into a mirror - your face looks different to you than it does to everyone else.
