Blake's Seven has attracted a new fan, who I know from MfU, where she has written a handful of delicately beautiful stories (she's not an English native speaker, thought you wouldn't guess it, and I think that helps her to bring a new sensibility to old fandoms). I rang up the vet tonight to make an appointment for Mowgli and Mephisto to be castrated, and rather to my surprise, they're going in tomorrow at 8.15am. So this is their last night with testicles. As Tashi said. "Tomorrow they won't be stallions any more."

I feel faintly guilty, albeit on a purely personal level (I'm a firm believer in not creating yet more unwanted kittens). The cats love us, trust us, and clearly believe we would never do them any harm, not even when they're being held under the armpits by children and having their hips waggled. But in fact we are plotting to chop their balls off. Never trust a human being.
