Last month Wolfgang had a weird little neurological episode which might have been a minor stroke, or might just have been a migraine, when he suffered from acute dysphasia and couldn't remember basic words like "arm", "Thomas" and "Mama Mia". He spent half a week in hospital and was checked out thoroughly, with the reassuring conclusion that it was probably just a migraine. Today we found out that it was definitely at the migraine, because he was actually at the neurologist's for a follow-up apppointment when he had another attack.
I found out when he came home and told me. The dialogue ran as follows:
W: "You know that thingy, a few weeks ago, when I was in...."
Me: Hospital?
W: Yes, when I couldn't....
Me: Speak?
W: Well, I'm having another one.
Me: A stroke?
W: No.
Me: A migraine?
W: Yes. At the, at the...
Me: Doctor's?
W: Yes. It's definitely a...a....
Me: Migraine.
W: Yes. He gave me some, some, some...
Me: Aspirin?
W: Yes.
The telephone rings
Me: It's Thomas.
W: Who's Thomas?
Me: The guy you go sailing with.
W: I don't know anyone called Thomas.
Me: Yes, you do, he taught you to sail.
W: He's not called... called....
Me: Thomas.
W: I'm going to, going to...
Me: Bed?
Half an hour later he was normally coherent again, but it was weird while it lasted. If i were Thomas, I'd be worried, though - both times it happened, Wolfgang's brain expunged him from the universe.
