azdak at 12:55pm on 15/09/2008Wolfgang has just phoned, rather unexpectedly and sounding exceedingly cheerful, to say that he has spent the last twelve hours in a storm that blew the mainsail to shreds (on his shift - apparently it was just like something out of Hornblower). The wind was gale force 11 (on a scale that goes up to, like, 12) and he threw up and no-one got any sleep, but it's all tremendous fun and they're now heading for a port somewhere on the coast of Croatia to try to find a new mainsail.
I'm not convinced that I'd think this was fun, but the main thing is that he's enjoying himself. And this time around he has a change of waterproofs with him, so should not be as damp as last time.
I think I'll go and sit by the fire and drink a hot cup of tea, and wallow in the fact that I am not in a gale force 11 wind, and that the rain is outside the house and could no be described by even the most vivid imagination as driving.
