While I don't approve of assassination as a political tool, nor with the Hand of God intervening in the democratic process, I have to say that Jörg Haider encouraged a significant increase in man's inhumanity to man, has made life much, much harder for people who were already suffering greatly, and is directly reponsible for the fact that racial and ethnic hatred is once again salonfähig amongst larger sections of the Austrian population. In other words, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
